HOT MELT PROCESSING MACHINES / CUSTOMISED MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

For small, medium and large serial production we have developed a comprehensive program of hot melt processing machines. No doubt the correct equipment for your application is also among them. The modular structure gives you the opportunity of selecting precisely the components required for your production process.

Select the appropriate standard machines in the required variations from our program for small, medium or large serial production. We develop customised machines for partially or fully automatic in-line production with optional process components such as automatic material delivery, material drying or automatic tool assembly based on your precise functional specification.

Even after purchase of the machine we naturally remain at your disposal. Would you like to expand your capacities? Do you have any new material requirements? Our competent on-site service and the hotline will be glad to help.

TM 1500 series

Extruder technology
The TM 1500 series involves extruder technology, which was specially developed for low-pressure injection moulding. The advantage of this technology lies in “melt on demand”, in the course of which only the quantity of material required for the next shot is melted. This results in very high process security.

The appliances in the TM 1500 series are employed in both stand-alone operations and in-line production. They are best suited to medium and large production series. In the event of efficient delivery rate with precisely regulated injection and cool-down times, the TM 1500 series offers the opportunity of heating exactly the amount of capping material required for production only.

The microprocessor-controlled operating units make production very efficient for all capping parameters. Of particular interest is the fact that the TM 4500 or TM 6500 machines can be set up, with the extruder TM 1500, as one of the most efficient hot melt moulding units in the world at the present time.

TM 2000 series

Laboratory and specimen series
Electronically regulated hand application devices in the TM 2000 series, which can also be used on loan, serve to process hot melt polyamides. The TM 2000 series is designed for use in the smallest series production, resolves all tasks in laboratory and pilot operations, and delivers initial results for material evaluation.

The appliances can quickly be filled, offer a high melting capacity and allow for simple time control. A low temperature load is ensured for formed parts.

TM 1100 series

Tank technology
This series of appliances, at the heart of Werner Wirth standard processing machines, relates to a hot-melt smelting unit within tank technology. The series was specially designed for the processing of low-pressure injection moulding materials. Comparable low-cost tank technology is employed in both in-line and stand-alone operations.

The TM 1100 series of appliances allows for gentle working of materials and thus ensures consistently high quality of the material. Heat-up phases can be adjusted via weekly clock timers in such a way that waiting times are removed. The warm start sensors ensure that production can be continued after pauses or servicing phases without delay.

Appliances in the TM 1100 series are available in two different tank sizes. The tank is essentially cylindrically shaped and equipped with various adjustable heat zones. Its design is highly suited to servicing needs.

TM 2500 series

Moulding unit for small batch production

As stand-alone-devices the processing systems of the TM 2500 series offer an ideal and economical entry into the hotmelt production of small and medium-sized batches.  Accurately regulated injection and cooling times in combination with a coordinated selection of the tank system guarantee a high degree of repeatability with practically no production tolerances.

The simple modular design makes it possible to use any number of different mould dimensions. Thanks to a retainer whose dimensions are 160 x 130 mm, mould heights of up to a maximum of 130 mm can be clamped with no problem at all. Quick and simple tool changeover from the upper and lower mould halves facilitates quick changeover of different moulding projects on one and the same processing system. Maximum flexibility in production is guaranteed by the combination of the comparably high 1to clamping force of the tools in this group of devices.

The system is delivered ready for production as a table device that includes the TM 1004 tank system.  As an option the system is also available as a complete processing system that is mounted on a machine table and includes a temperature control unit.

The freely accessible tool area with its maximum room for manoeuvring is particularly suited for the cable-manufacturing branch.  One set of tools comprises two tool halves. In order to make inserting the assembly easier, the lower tool half can be pulled out of the machine manually via a sliding table. To facilitate unloading of the parts while the system is in operation, the lower mould half is moved towards the operator pneumatically. The use of aluminium tools keeps tool production costs low.

An optional cooling or temperature control unit allows appropriately equipped tools to be cooled or their temperature controlled in compliance with the project requirements. A consistent tool temperature ensures constant injection conditions. The low-pressure injection moulding process is carried out within a pressure range of 5 to 50 bar. Whereby the parts to be moulded are exposed to only a very low temperature load. The temperature can be continuously adjusted with an accuracy of ± 1°C. The modular design facilitates service-friendly processing in order to allow rapid response to the many different demands of the market, e.g. individual dimensioning of the holtmelt moulding unit.

TM 3500 series

Processing machine for small and medium serial production
Processing systems for the TM 3500 series are designed for small and medium serial production of hot melt moulding. Precisely regulated injection and cool-down times guarantee high repeatability capacities almost without production tolerances.

High temperature precision and regulated functions, such as temperature reduction, and upper and lower temperature locking, facilitate efficient production. Further advantages include the compact, space-saving design and user protection through 2-hand operation.

TM 4500 series

Processing machine for medium serial production
Capping stations in the TM 4500 series are ideal for smaller to medium hot melt moulding serial production. An automatic sliding table for holding two sub-forms facilitates a reduction in operating cycles. Processor-controlled injection and cool-down times assure a high capacity for repeatability.

Through high temperature precision and regulated functions, such as temperature reduction, upper and lower temperature locking, production can be designed very efficiently. Modular design is sufficient for the most diverse requirements, such as individual construction of the hot-melt smelting unit. Further advantages include the compact, space-saving design and user protection through 2-hand operation.

TM 6500 series

Processing machines for medium and large serial production
The TM 6500 series is employed for medium and large production series. One feature of this machine is the above-average tool clamping force. The series was designed for use in stand-alone operations, but can be rapidly and simply integrated into existing in-line production processes. Appliances in the TM 6500 series facilitate a high capacity for repeatability, high operating cycles and efficient production with lower temperature loads for formed parts, and consistent quality of material. With the pre-melting automated device controlled by the week timer, waiting times can be avoided when beginning coating.

Particular benefits of appliances in the TM 6500 series include the Ethernet interface for connecting the machine to the Internet, the option of logging operational data for machine parameters, as well as process data evaluation and 2-hand operation.

TM 7500 Automatic feeding unit

Resin feeding system for melting units

This new generation of thermotechnically decoupled resin feeding systems represents an outstanding solution offering maximum comfort!

This resin feeding system for hotmelt moulding was designed for simple and clean filling of melting units. The outstanding feature of this feeding unit is that it is thermotechnically decoupled, a feature that gives it a clear edge over anything the competition has to offer. This feature has the advantage of preventing any resin residues sticking in the filling area.

The system is controlled either independently via capacitive sensors or via a connection to the moulding unit’s own technology. When necessary, the smelting tank’s level monitoring system transmits a signal to the control, which then triggers a time or level-controlled filling cycle. The system monitors the resin stock and the filling process, stops automatically in the case of an error and activates an appropriate message. Communication is effected via an I/O interface. This is a particularly material-friendly process as resin is only fed into the integrated material bunker via a suction tube in the right amounts and only when required. A level control in the material bunker prevents the smelting unit from ever completely running out of resin.

Product properties

  • Time saving due to automatic feeding
  • The tank is full for the whole length of the operating process
  • Overfilling cut-out
  • Complete thermo decoupling between the resin store and the materials being smelted
  • Consistent temperature because it is not necessary to open the cover.
  • Material protection thanks to the closed system
